We commit to fully supporting your educational and football development in our scholarship programme by ensuring you are guided to select both the most appropriate and tailored educational pathway, involving A Levels, BTEC and CTEC sports courses as well as our professional games timetable.
Our partnership and use of Rochdale AFC Education structure provides pathways for 16 to 19 year-old footballers to represent Rochdale AFC in a National Football Youth League structure, competing against Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two football clubs such as Burnley, Manchester City, Barnsley, Newcastle, with a possible route into a career in sport and perhaps professional football.
We have a semi-professional pathway through our partnership with Eccleshill United with our players competing in the FA Youth cup ensuring you have opportunities to compete against the best teams in the UK, a great experience for any young player.
In addition, our scholars move into other avenues including University Courses, North American football scholarships, FA Coaching Awards and Sport Education careers, all expertly guided by our full time careers staff. Our pledge is to develop both parts of our scholars education, both academically and in football.

Rochdale AFC EDS
We are proud of our partnership with League 1 club Rochdale AFC. This gives our scholars the chance to progress into professional football directly from our programme. In addition, it allows Elite scholars to compete in the National Football Youth League.
All scholars are equipped in Rochdale tracksuits and playing kits as well as given the opportunity to play games against other Rochdale Educational Academy teams and the Rochdale Youth team itself.
Any scholar who is showing clear development progression with us is given the chance to train with the Rochdale Youth team directly.
Our Pro Elite coaches follow the Rochdale coaching syllabus and are invited to the clubs CPD events for further training excellence in their coaching journey with us. Whilst we expect player development and progression, we also expect our coaching staff to develop and progress too.
Eccleshill United FC
Secondly, we are also proud of our playing partnership with Bradford based club Eccleshill United who play in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
More than 15 scholars have made appearances in the last 4 seasons for the Eccleshill side. The partnership allows Pro Elite Scholars to compete in the FA Youth Cup and National League Youth Alliance U19s League.
VEO is an automated camera system that we use to record all of our games. This allows coaches to go back and look at the teams overall performance as well as each individual player. This means that coaches can show teams and players what they’re doing well as well as areas for improvement.
This also helps coaches and players set their goals of areas they want to improve on in a game. This means coaches can tailor training sessions to work specifically on these areas.
“Having VEO has really helped my development as a player. I know where I need to improve on different aspects of the game. As a team, watching the games back has helped us develop our shape and we have become stronger as a squad because of it”
Player Tek is a professional GPS tracking system which allows players and coaches to measure performance statistics from games and training sessions in high detail.
This system provides a wide range of statistics for coaches and players to use. From distance covered by players, to top speeds and how many sprints each player has done.
This allows coaches to use this data to help players with any fitness and conditioning goal they have set
“Player Tek has been great for my development. To measure my data in games has been class, it tracks our distance covered, sprints, player load and more. It’s been very good for our team to compete against each other to try and beat each other’s scores. It gives us that extra little push.”
Each year the scholars have the chance to go on tour. On this tour, players will spend the week away in Spain taking part in various activities such as stadium tours and trips to water parks.
Players will also take part in daily training and play two games against local academy sides.
